Five Crystals You Can Use to Welcome the Fall

Though it’s not quite the fall equinox, the start of September always brings anticipation for the new season (though every year, it’s difficult to leave summer behind!). In September, the leaves begin to change to red, orange, and yellow, pumpkin and cider flavors hit the market, and apple picking is at its prime. School begins again, and it’s time to double down.

Fall is a time to reflect, and with it comes a few different emotions. Change. Letting go. New beginnings. Fall is a wonderful excuse to think back upon your past goals and see how far you’ve come. It is also a time to plan ahead for the future – closing one book to begin a new one.

With the change of the season comes uncertainty as well, and your health should be a primary focus. One way to take care of yourself is to try utilizing healing crystals. Crystals are a holistic practice that are said to harness healing energies because of their individual vibrations. Though science goes back and forth on just how helpful they can be, you can always hold a crystal in your hand or your pocket and use it to remind yourself of certain properties.

If you’ve never used healing crystals, maybe this fall is a good time to start! Here are five crystals you can use this September through November to celebrate all that is good about autumn!

Chrysocolla

Chrysocolla is a green crystal that is good for your heart chakra (chakras are the seven energy points of your body that define your overall well-being – see this helpful guide for more!). It is ideal for supporting you through transition periods and gives you courage to deal with any situation you may need a hand in. It is a stone of communication and calm, and it allows your voice to be heard.

Red Jasper

Red jasper is a grounding stone, great for your root chakra. It brings strength to difficult situations and tethers you to the earth. It is also very good for all kinds of powerful healing. Using this crystal will give you a powerful, strong foundation to work from, letting you know you are always supported.

Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a throat chakra stone that is ideal for articulation, communication, and letting go. If you live by the ocean or a body of water, you may find this stone particularly useful, as its name comes from a Latin phrase meaning, “water of the sea.” Like water, aquamarine lets you go with the flow and take new situations in stride.

Citrine

Citrine is a beautiful orange crystal that is reminiscent of fall leaves. It is a wonderful stone for career goals and creativity and helps with focus and setting new goals. When you think of citrine, think of manifestation, imagination, and joy. Citrine is the embodiment of happiness – let yourself feel joy when working with this stone! It is a sacral chakra stone, which governs emotions, sensuality, and creativity.

Carnelian

Another orange stone, carnelian is one of courage, success, and motivation. It represents your creative inner child and promotes passion. If you’re looking to take bold action in your transition, this may be the stone for you. This stone is always rooting for you! It is also a sacral chakra stone and burns like a campfire on a crisp, autumn night.

5 of the Most Unique Yoga Classes in Your Area

Yoga at Winery

The practice of yoga can be traced back all the way to 3000 B.C., where civilizations in India developed it as a way to achieve harmony between the mind, body, and soul on the path to divine enlightenment. Nowadays, yoga has evolved as western culture has adopted it. More people are practicing yoga than ever before. According to The Good Body, between 2012 and 2016, the number of Americans doing yoga grew by 50%. If you’re trying to get to the studio for your yoga class, you’re not alone!

As more people have adopted yoga, the variety of practices has increased as well. Yoga classes can now be set to hip hop music, combined with high-energy fitness classes like pilates, and heated to 90 degrees Fahrenheit or more. There truly is something for every yogi now, and heading to a unique class is a great way to bond with friends both old and new!

Interested in trying a unique yoga class to shake up your practice? We’ve compiled five fun, modern yoga classes to search for in your area!

1. Goat Yoga

Yes, you can now practice yoga amongst baby goats, and it is so cute! Goats are known to be playful, snuggly animals, and they’re pretty great at downward dog. Practicing Goat Yoga is the perfect way to integrate your practice with nature. There are plenty of other animal-related yoga classes popping up as well – many shelters are using it as a tactic to increase animal adoption!

2. Brew-Ga (or Winery Yoga!)

Yoga at a brewery or winery is the perfect way to unwind with friends. Many tasting rooms now offer hour-long yoga classes followed by a curated beer or wine tasting (BYOM – bring your own mat!). The great thing about these locations is that classes are held both indoors and outdoors, and many tasting rooms have beautiful grounds. If you don’t drink alcohol, consider looking for a yoga class at a kombucha tap or organic market instead!

3. Silent Yoga

Silent Yoga is a creative way to keep your inner monologue going while still participating as a group. The way it works is that yogis will put on wireless headphones, blocking out ambient noise, and the yoga instructor and/or an accompanying DJ will play a special mix! Sometimes your instructor will also have a microphone so you can hear instructions, but if not, these types of classes are flexible enough for you to do your own thing. What a way to rock out!

4. SUP Yoga

This practice is becoming more and more popular. SUP stands for “stand up paddleboarding,” and it’s exactly what it sounds like – yoga on a paddleboard in the water! This class can range from moves for the absolute beginner to long-time instructors who want a challenge. On a beautiful day, there is nothing more serene. But be forewarned … it is a lot harder than it looks!

5. Glow-Ga

Have you ever been to a cosmic bowling alley? Glow-Ga is similar in that all the lights are turned off and you practice by blacklight and neon signs! Be sure to wear white or neon colors to get the best effect, and bring some glowing jewelry to up the ante. Usually, this type of yoga is accompanied by fun music. This is a fantastic choice for a larger group if you’re looking for ways to get your entire office involved! Commercial real estate professionals can also offer on-site Glow-Ga classes in their buildings as a way for tenants to get to know each other. Need help? Chasing Nirvana Yoga is up for the challenge!

If the recipient of your gift is a yoga lover, they probably are familiar with the practice of balancing their chakras. The chakras are seven energy centers that serve different parts of the being. These energy centers are pockets of swirling energy that are align vertically down the center of an individual’s body, but sometimes, they can become unbalanced, causing health to suffer. Learn more in our past blog post! These chakra bracelets from I Love Chakra are made of crystals that correspond to each of the body’s chakras and can be bought singularly to serve one chakra or in stacks. Have fun mixing and matching based on what your yogi needs most!

The yogi in your life might want to clear the energy in their house or workplace this holiday season, and a smudging kit is the perfect way to do that. Smudging is an ancient ceremony in which you burn plants like sage or wood like Palo Santo and use the smoke to cleanse an area with positive energy. You can buy a smudging kit like the one above on Amazon, or you can mix and match different smudging elements to make one of your own!

Of course, what better to get your yogi than a yoga class pack to visit their favorite yoga studio? Most studios offer package deals, but if you’re not sure what studio they like best, try pre-paying for five different classes at five different studios! If your yogi is the entrepreneurial type, another great idea is to gift them a few onsite yoga classes for their office.
