Even though I am a full-on practicing yogi, I can still understand the apprehension of people thinking about trying yoga but too nervous to take the chance. I often hear people say they don’t want to try yoga because they’re “not flexible enough” or they “don’t have good balance.” But if you never try, you’ll never know, right?
Even the most-talented of yogis had their “first-day in the studio” and it’s the dedication and continuation of the practice that has allowed them to now do a handstand with comfort or balance in some crazy pose on one foot. The great thing about yoga is there are modifications to every pose and there is SO much room to grow! So for beginners, there is a simpler version of almost every pose and ways to make that same pose more challenging as you find yourself getting more comfortable with yourself and with the practice.
Basically what I’m trying to say is for those first-timers out there: please, please, please give yoga a try! I promise you that it will bring you joy and fulfillment. After all, yoga is not for the flexible. It’s for the willing!
