Need something on-the-go for breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack? Try a green smoothie! Of course, you can simply buy a smoothie at one of the many juice cafes around the city, but why not make one yourself?
Simply put all of the ingredients in your blender and enjoy! As always, feel free to substitute fruits, veggies, and juices where you see fit, or try adding extra ingredients, such as plain greek yogurt or ginger.
What you’ll need:
- 1 cup of Spinach
- 1 cup of Kale
- 1 Banana
- 1 cup of Frozen Fruit (Mango, Peaches, Pineapple are my favorite for this smoothie!)
- 1 cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk (for a smoother smoothie) OR 1 cup of Pineapple Juice (for a more refreshing smoothie) Note: make sure to juice the pineapple yourself otherwise you may be adding lots of unnecessary refined sugar.
Working and don’t have time to make a smoothie everyday? Make a batch on a Sunday night and freeze in plastic bags. When ready to use either stick one in the fridge the night before to defrost or run the bag under hot water for 5 minutes. Note: Always best to drink your smoothie or juice immediately, as some nutritional content is lost if it’s not consumed right away. Generally, convenience is key, so do whatever works best for your busy schedule to stay healthy!
