Something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime is the Sahara Desert, but we got there, we saw it and we loved every minute of it. Well maybe NOT every minute. The drive there took us 10 hours and the drive back was 12 of windy hairpin turns up and down the Atlas mountains. Have I mentioned I'm not a car person - ugh! When we finally arrived, we took camels out into the middle of the desert, nothing but sand dunes as far as the eye can see. Chicken tagine for dinner with a few locals and some other tourists, bundled up in 3 layers plus hat and mittens to go to bed (it gets seriously cold In the desert at night when you are sleeping under the stars). We woke early to climb the sand dune to watch the sunrise and beautiful doesn't begin to describe it!
